Civil War Cemetery Tour (Saturday, April 25, 2026)

Join PFC Member Linda Ryan for a tour of the Union Dale Cemetery and its section of Civil War-era graves. The GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) paid for a large monument that marks this section. Each gravestone displays the army unit where the Union soldiers served. Linda will meet the group at the entrance of Division 3 on the corner of Marshall Ave and Brighton Rd (15212) across from the Exxon station. You'll drive through the black, wrought-iron gate that sits on a diagonal corner. (It's a little unusual.)

The Pittsburgh Freethought Community is lacing up for a 5K—and we’d love for you to join us!

Whether you're a seasoned runner, casual jogger, or enthusiastic walker, this is a great chance to connect with fellow freethinkers, enjoy the outdoors, and support a healthy, active lifestyle together. No competition required—just good company, positive energy, and a shared commitment to community.

Local Jeopardy! champ, Liz Quesnelle, will be hosting the event at Hop Farm Brewing Co, 5601 Butler St, in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Just look for the table with a small PFC-logo display stand.

Free parking is easily found nearby.

Appetizers, meals, and drinks (alcoholic or not) are available to order.

PFC member Dr. Lise Bilhaut is a multi-talented person, with experience including evaluating the potential of nanotechnology for space exploration and specializing in nano-electro-mechanical systems. She brings her analytical expertise to us for one of the more down to earth problems that face us every day. She writes:
