John Hooper, Ph.D. John Hooper (Ph.D. in Chemistry, Carnegie Mellon University) is a retired scientist and research director, having pursued a career in molecular imaging and spectroscopy. Shortly before retiring, he received a Master of Arts in Liberal Arts degree from Clark University in an area of avocational interest: epistemology. Hooper has held local and national leadership positions in organizations involving naturalism, Humanism, and Unitarian Universalist social action. He is immediate past president of both the Unitarian Universalist Humanist Association (HUUmanists.org) and the Secular Coalition for America Education Fund. He presently serves on the executive committees of the boards of the American Humanist Association and The Institute for Humanist Studies. John is a cofounder and enthusiastic supporter of both the Humanists and Freethinkers of Fairfield County (CT) and the Pittsburgh Freethought Community. John lives in downtown Pittsburgh with his wife Dr. Gail M. Pesyna. |
