January's topic revolves around the issue(s) of competition. Does our American culture have an unhealthy obsession with competition and winning? Has it gotten to the point where it is detrimental to our society? Is competition or competitiveness something that is innate? Is the modern notion that "Winning isn't the main thing - it's the ONLY thing" destructive? And is it part of the root cause of our seemingly intractable political divide?
