Learn about the significance of Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, our nations oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. June 19th marked the day when Union General Gordon Granger read federal orders in Galveston, Texas, that all previously enslaved people in Texas were free.

We will also discuss the policies around defunding the police, what that might look like, and why it is important.
