Earth Day Celebration @ Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall
300 Beechwood Ave, Carnegie, PA
We will be hosting three, 30-min interactive En-ROADS sessions, starting at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30, with opportunities for participants to directly control the simulator before and after each session.
En-ROADS is a global climate simulator that allows users to explore the impact that policies—such as electrifying transport, pricing carbon, tree planting, carbon sequestration, nuclear power, and technological breakthroughs—have on factors like energy prices, CO2 concentrations, temperature rise, air quality, sea level rise, etc.
Developed by Climate Interactive and the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative, En-ROADS is a system dynamics model grounded in the best available science, and has been calibrated against a wide range of existing integrated assessment, climate, and energy models. En-ROADS runs on an ordinary laptop in a fraction of a second, is freely available online, and offers an intuitive user-friendly interface.
Users can quickly see the long-term effects of the global climate policies and actions they imagine. The goal? To break through the noise and equip elected officials, business leaders, and everyday people with the knowledge they need to implement equitable and high-leverage climate solutions. You can learn more about the science behind the En-ROADS simulator here.
And while not learning about En-ROADS, please participate in the many other activities that the Carnegie Carnegie have planned for their Earth Day Celebration.
