This month, we are exploring the pros and cons of Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) also known as Instant Runoff Voting. One of the biggest advantage claims of proponents is that RCV eliminates the so-called "spoiler effect" of third party or independent candidates who may siphon off votes from another candidate. Opponents argue that such a system is too arcane and that better options over the current "plurality voting" in use in most locales are available. Suggested reading:

PFC Monthly discussion groups are open to all - if the topic interests you, and you wish to engage in rational and/or evidence-based dialogue, you'll be welcome! Dress is casual. Discussion is moderated but informal - speak up as much or as little as you wish.
Discussion topics are selected by vote at the previous Group meeting. They are chosen from a slate of topics germane to current events and for the controversy or differences of opinion around the subject.
