This month's topic is the subject of Free Speech. Should Free Speech be absolute? We already have some restrictions on it - such as not being permitted to cause mass panic like yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater. But what about really vile hate speech? Such as "All conservatives are lowlife garbage." What about saying "All conservatives should be taken out and shot"? Is there a line that should be drawn? If so, where should we draw that line? Is the incitement of violence okay? What about speech that dehumanizes other groups of people?
PFC Monthly discussion groups are open to all - if the topic interests you, and you wish to engage in rational and/or evidence-based dialogue, you'll be welcome! Dress is casual. Discussion is moderated but informal - speak up as much or as little as you wish.
Discussion topics are selected by vote at the previous Group meeting. They are chosen from a slate of topics germane to current events and for the controversy or differences of opinion around the subject.
