An Immense World: How Animal Senses Reveal the Hidden Realms Around Us

By Ed Yong

Wednesday, March 15, 2023, 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Hosted by: Karen C.

Unwelt is a German word that most of us are unfamiliar with. It refers to an animal’s surroundings, environment – its perceptual world. An Immense World, by Ed Yong, is a book about animals, how different species experience their world and how they use their senses, many of which are yet uncategorized.

Touted as one of the year’s best popular books on natural histories, Yong, a Pulitzer Prize-winning science journalist, informs us beyond the confines of our own senses for a new appreciation of nature’s magnificence.

This science-based book is well researched and accessible to non-experts. Many readers have commented that Yong has provided them with an entirely new insight of the ways animals sense the world. Join our book club discussion to share your perceptions.

If unable to obtain or read the whole book, please check the additional resources and feel welcome to attend.
