Hosts: Rob de C., Audrey G.

While both Europe and the United States experienced significant secularization following World War II, there were notable differences in the pace and extent of this trend. The links and discussion questions are intended to explore these differences, and to discuss where the secularization trend is at in our time.

Discussion questions

  • What factors led to the differences between the US and Europe?
  • What are similarities between the US and Europe? Can those be applied globally?
  • Can you see a scenario where the US would look like the Middle East in terms of religious leadership and what could be done at an individual level to counter this?
