Stephen Hirtle, Ph.D. Stephen Hirtle (Ph.D. in Mathematical Psychology, University of Michigan) has been active in both the local and national freethought organizations for a number of years. He currently serves as Chair of the Executive Board of Directors of the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) in Madison, Wisconsin and a Board Member of their freethought a humanitarian agency, Non-Belief Relief, whose goal is "to improve this world -- our only world". Locally, Stephen is the faculty adviser to the Pitt chapter of the Secular Alliance and was on the organizing committee of the most recent PA State Atheist/ Humanist Conference. Stephen remains outspoken about secularism and has been a guest on Freethought Radio, where he discussed multiple cases of illegal religious displays on government property in the western PA area. Stephen grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago and loves to travel with his family, having has had visiting faculty appointments in Austria, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and Thailand. |
